Welcome to Mr. Crimando's Class!
Please read through the brief information below for help with getting started on your course and answers to frequently asked questions. If you ever need my help, please let me know. I am here for you and I am happy to assist you.
Helpful Tips for Success
- Read carefully through the welcome documents I send to you at the beginning of the course.
- Go through the entire Orientation tab! This is extremely important, as it will help you become familiar with how the course works and with learning online. Often, many of your questions can be answered there.
- Complete the course in order. This is essential to your success in the course, because if you skip around, you are sure to miss something important. The most successful students take notes as they go through the units in order and study for quizzes/exams, making sure they are well-prepared before taking them.
Use The Voice Board
For any assignment that requires an oral recording, you are welcome to use the voice board function. You can access it via the tab in the course! Just post your recording there, and make note that you have done so in your assignment submission.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I sent you a message/email 10 minutes ago and still haven't heard from you! What is going on? I need a response from you!
- I haven’t responded yet because you sent the email 10 minutes ago. Remember, teachers have up to 24 hours Monday-Friday to respond to your messages. I usually reply much sooner, but sometimes I have many emails to get through in one day. If I haven’t responded in 24 hours Monday-Friday, something may have gone wrong with your message delivery. Wait the full 24 hours, and then feel free to write again. I promise to get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Remember, I want you to succeed!
2. How long will it be until my assignment is graded?
- I grade all assignments within 72 hours (Monday-Friday), but usually much sooner. Remember, if you turn in an assignment on Friday, I have 72 business hours to grade it. You might not receive a grade until the next Wednesday.
3. Why can I not access some parts of a unit or some of the course material?
- Some courses (Credit Recovery) use something called Adaptive Release. This feature limits how much of the course you are able to access at any given time; it will require that you pass certain quizzes or turn in certain assignments before it will release the rest of the course materials to you. If you are having trouble accessing an item in the course, make sure you've satisfied the main requirements of Adaptive Release:
2. You have clicked the Mark Reviewed button at the end of a section to unlock the next section.
4. Where do I go...
- ...for test passwords? You should talk to your school site mentor/teacher/counselor.
- ...for one-on-one help? Attend a Class Connect session, held for an hour weekly. Check the Staff Information page for my current office hours.
- ...for a pacing plan? Go to the Orientation tab and click on Schedule. There, you can input your start and end dates and receive a personalized schedule for the course. This is a very helpful feature, and I strongly suggest you use it.
- ...to change my end date? Talk to your school site mentor/teacher/counselor. They are the ones who set your end dates.
